The spacing between each stair stringer must not exceed 42 inches. A wider space would put too much weight on the steps and create micro cracks in the fibreglass. For stairs wider than 42 inches, it is mandatory to add a third stringboard in the middle to ensure that the weight is well distributed and that the staircase supports the people using it.
